800 Washington University students came together on Thursday, October 12th outside the Danforth University Center on campus for a gathering in support of Israel through song, prayer, and testimonials.

Last week hundreds of WashU students gathered to remember and honor those who lost their lives to terrorism in Israel, after the surprise attack by Hamas in southern Israel on October 7.

The gathering on Thursday was planned by student leaders convened by WashU Hillel with support from Chabad at Washington University. The rally on Friday was organized by junior Sonya Kest from Los Angeles, CA.

In their invitation to students, the groups wrote:

“In times of tragedy and calamity, the Jewish people have found comfort and strength through song. Join us as we raise our voices in solidarity with those who have been impacted by the terror attack in Israel this past weekend. As we sit and sing together let us find strength from our tradition and from our community.”

Hillel is offering free, one-on-one counseling sessions with mental health professionals (up to one hour) to students. In-person and virtual sessions are available. Please click here to schedule a session.
