Gal Gadot has made history as the first Israeli actor to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the ceremony, Gadot reflected on her journey from Rosh Ha’ayin to international stardom, encouraging young women to pursue their dreams. The event, attended by her family, was briefly disrupted by pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian protesters, highlighting tensions surrounding her advocacy for Israel. Gadot’s honor comes amid controversy surrounding her latest film, “Snow White,” which has faced backlash over casting and political discourse.
Gal Gadot reflects on her journey from Israel to Hollywood
Gadot addressed her family in Hebrew and spoke about growing up in Israel during her speech at the ceremony.
“I’m just a girl from a town in Israel,” the 39-year-old said, adding, “This star will remind me that with hard work, passion, and some faith, anything is possible.”
She later returned to the theme in a message for young women, saying, “To all the young women out there, the young people, especially young girls watching—if a girl from Rosh Ha’ayin can get a star on Hollywood Boulevard, anything is possible.”
The event was a personal milestone, as Gadot posed on her newly minted star with her husband, Jaron Varsano, and their four daughters. The celebration also carried emotional weight, as Gadot has previously spoken about a life-threatening complication during her most recent pregnancy.
Protests and controversies mark the Walk of Fame ceremony
The ceremony took place under tight security and was shielded from public view. However, Variety reported that tensions flared outside between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
The honor comes at a time when Gadot’s latest film, a live-action remake of “Snow White,” has been embroiled in controversy. Discussions about the film have been clouded by speculation about on-set tensions and its depiction of the seven dwarves.
Gadot is only the second Israeli to receive a star on the Walk of Fame, following media mogul Haim Saban, who was honored in 2017.
