St. Louis Scouts place 8,500 flags at Jewish veteran graves in Memorial Day tribute

On Sunday, May 26, St. Louis area scouts placed 8,500 flags at the graves of veterans in every Jewish cemetery.

At Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, located at Olive Boulevard and Hanley Road, the event began with a flag raising. This annual scouting volunteer project, known as the St. Louis Memorial Day Scout Good Turn, started in the early 1980s and is coordinated by Steve Sobelman from the St. Louis Jewish Committee on Scouting.

The flags are provided by Jewish War Veterans Post 644 and sponsored by JWV and the Jewish Committee on Scouting.
