In the era of digital democracy, Mirowitz Center isn’t just adapting to change – it’s driving it, one click at a time, guiding the way for older adults in St. Louis through a new partnership with Senior Planet from AARP.

“We recognized a growing need to equip our older adults with the tools to thrive in the digital age,” shares Daniel Landsbaum, technology and activity coordinator at Mirowitz Center.

Since the partnership began in October 2023, the center has offered a diverse array of tech trainings designed specifically for senior learners. For 2024, the spotlight shifts to a timely initiative – the “Election 2024” classes.

“Our goal is to empower older adults with the tools to be engaged citizens,” said Landsbaum. “With the upcoming election, we’ve seen an uptick in interest on how to get information about candidates and issues and how to advocate for issues.”

The “Election 2024” classes serve as a roadmap to civic participation in the digital age. Participants learn how to look up their representatives, decipher their positions on key issues, communicate effectively, understand ballot initiatives and advocate for causes dear to them.

“Older adults are voters and want to be informed about candidates’ positions on the programs and services that support older adults and the people and issues they care about,” said Landsbaum.
