Wayne Cooper, born October 3, 1935, to the late Alvin and Carolyn Cooper, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he made his home for many years.
Wayne grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Tulane University. He also spent cherished years living in Diamondhead, Mississippi, a place that remained close to his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Cooper; his brother, Rodger (Jane) Cooper, his children, Keith (Lela) Cooper and Wendy (Larry) Jablonow; his stepdaughter, Jill Sandberg (Tim) and stepson Cory (Tina) Jacobs. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Wayne’s career was as vibrant as his personality. He served as the very first Public Director for the St. Louis Blues, promoted Rock Concerts, Broadway Shows, and pursued many other ventures that reflected his love of people, performance, and storytelling.
Known for his sociable nature, Wayne never met a stranger. His stories—colorful, plentiful, and often unforgettable—were a hallmark of who he was.
