Beloved wife of Simon L. Koski. Dear mother of Ted C. (Renea) Koski and Beth A. Koski. Cherished grandmother of Danielle “Dani” (Justin) Lydon, Isabella and Claudia Koski. Loving great-grandmother of Lucas and Brooklyn Lydon. Dear sister of David J. (Connie) Rosenblatt. Beloved daughter of the late Sam and Rose (nee Landau) Rosenblatt. Loving granddaughter of the late Morris and Gussie Rosenblatt and the late Samuel and Ida Landau. Dear aunt of Holly Partin and Heather Cronenberg and her two children, Parker and Elise. Our beloved cousin and friend to many.
Marsha was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on August 17, 1940, into a loving, happy family. She had good friends at Jackson Park Elementary School and University City High School. In her junior year, she flirted with and dated a boy (Simon) whom she married six years later, after they graduated from Washington University. Marsha earned a BA in Elementary Education with Lifetime Certification. Her first teaching job was as a kindergarten teacher near the army post where her husband was stationed.
Back in St. Louis, Marsha spent the next 33 years as an early childhood teacher and leader. She was a supervisor and Associate Director for most of her teaching career and later became Director of the Early Childhood Center at the JCC. During that time, she earned a master’s degree in early childhood with a Special Education certification From Webster University. Marsha obtained and maintained the JCC’s high quality Missouri EC School Accreditation status; she had her staff certified with continuous up-to-date training and developed parent/infant and parent/toddler programs. She built a strong team. Her staff appreciated—and benefited from—her high standards, leadership, knowledge, training programs and friendship. Professionally, she was selected to be a J PRO. She was named an UNSUNG HERO for advocating Jewish Prison Outreach for helping incarcerated Jewish women and men.
Marsha and Simon were best friends from high school. They solved whatever problems came their way while always keeping the other’s interest in mind. This led to a strong and beautiful marriage for more than 62 years. They had two children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren of whom she loved all so very much. Marsha strived to instill upon her family the same love and support she received growing up and expressed how important it is to be close to one another and create long-lasting bonds. She genuinely cared about her friends, often checking on their well-being and supporting their interests and concerns. Marsha will be missed sorely by those who loved her, and for them, her memory will be a blessing.
