After more than 35 years at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Bruce D. Levy is returning to St. Louis. He was named executive vice chancellor for medical affairs and dean of Washington University School of Medicine.
Levy specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine and begins his new role July 1, succeeding Dr. David H. Perlmutter, who is concluding his deanship after more than 10 years. Perlmutter will remain on the faculty as the Spencer T. and Ann W. Olin Distinguished Professor and will become the senior advisor to the chancellor for innovation and commercialization.
He is also launching a new autophagy therapeutics company, focusing on drugs for liver disease and potentially other degenerative diseases of aging.
