‘Team 29’ reigns supreme at ‘Battle of the Stars,’ raising beaucoup bucks for J programs

Nothing like a little friendly competition to bring an entire community together. That was the premise for the “Battle of the Stars,” the new event fundraiser from J Associates, the women’s auxiliary of the St. Louis Jewish Community Center. The event took place on Saturday, March 2, at the J’s Staenberg Family Complex with more than 300 people in attendance.

Twenty-nine teams competed for bragging rights, playing games such as “Around the World,” a puzzle game; “Finish the Lyrics” and the quintessential “Are You Smarter than a St. Louisan?”

The top four teams moved onto the semi-final round featuring a “Matzah Ball Battle” with the top two teams advancing to the final round of “Nacho Ordinary Sumo.”

In the end, Team 29, walked away as the first ever J Associates “Battle of The Stars” champions. The event raised more than $238,000 to help support all the J’s programs, services and scholarships.

Team 29 featuring: Dani Berg, Jason Berg, Bryan Berg, Abigail Berg, Matt Bukhshtaber, Anna Bukhshtaber, Samantha Katzman, Danny Katzman. Chad Klamen, Rachel Deutsch and Scott Yaffe.
