Thanks to the generosity of Michael Staenberg, Camp Sabra is opening the doors even wider for children to experience the joy, belonging and personal growth that define a summer at Jewish overnight camp. Staenberg’s commitment reflects a deep belief in the power of Jewish camping to shape confident, connected young people—with the idea that finances should never stand in the way of that experience.
For summer 2026, his philanthropy is making a meaningful difference in two important ways. The Michael Staenberg 2nd-Year Camper Grant offers up to $850 to returning campers who received a One Happy Camper grant in 2025, helping families turn a great first summer into a lasting camp journey. At the same time, Staenberg’s tuition-free, need-based scholarships will provide up to 10 full-tuition awards, ensuring that deserving children can experience the magic of Camp Sabra regardless of financial circumstances.
“Camp Sabra helps shape confident, connected Jewish young people, and that kind of foundation lasts a lifetime,” said Staenberg. “Financial barriers shouldn’t decide who gets that opportunity. These scholarships are about opening doors and strengthening our community for the future.”
Together, these opportunities underscore Staenberg’s vision of a Camp Sabra community where every child can build friendships, discover new strengths and deepen their Jewish identity in a warm, welcoming environment.
