
Every year around this time, I remember two things:

Hanukkah gives us eight nights of religious permission to eat donuts.

I still cannot pronounce sufganiyot correctly.
It’s supposed to be soof-ghan-YOTE.
But that little “i” throws me off every time, and I end up saying soof-GHAH-nee-yote.
