Jewish War Veterans of St. Louis now offering two $1,000 scholarships

The Jewish War Veterans of St. Louis, Post 644, is offering two $1000.00 scholarships, The Ted and Rachael Pevnick Family Scholarship and the Chuck Sandroff Scholarship, for Jewish graduating high school seniors planning to attend a college or university program, or a vocational school program, or for Jewish students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or vocational school program.

The Chuck Sandroff Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of the group’s past commander, who passed away in 2017.

The Ted and Rachael Pevnick Family Scholarship was created just this past January.  Rachael Pevnick who turned 90 on Jan. 22. decided to take the money her children offered to send her on a cruise with and instead honor the service of her late husband, Ted.

Applicants need to have a veteran relative (parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt, cousin, etc.)

The deadline for application submission is April 30, 2023.

Interested students should go to http://www.jwvstl.org and look under activities.  You can also contact Tom McHugh ([email protected]) for more information.  The scholarship program has been extended to apply to more Jewish students.
