Nearly 300 people gathered on Sunday, Oct. 26 at the Jewish Community Center to salute the 2025 St. Louis Jewish Light Unsung Heroes. This marks the 16th year the Light has honored special individuals for selflessly giving their time, service and commitment to the St. Louis Jewish community.
“The treasure that these people are bringing for their talent and time is unbelievable,” said Michael Staenberg, Jewish Light board president. “We should be happy and thoughtful for what they bring.”
Staenberg’s words were echoed by Debbie Lefton, the event co-chair (with Amy Fenster Brown), who told the audience, “We want to thank each of you for joining us to recognize these tremendous volunteers and humans who better our community and world every day.”
This year’s Jewish Light Unsung Heroes are: Holly Bernstein, Max Gornish, Debbie Hirschfelder, Julie Hoffman, Marilyn K. Humiston, Marty Levy, Nancy Litz, Michele Steinberg, Harriet Turner and Marti Zuckerman.
