Marilyn Dien, Oct. 22, 2025
A graduate of University City High School where Marilyn made life-long friends; and Washington University School of Occupational Therapy where she began a proud and impactful career. Her work spanned City Hospital, Koch Hospital and for decades as the Activities and Volunteer Director at Truman Restorative Center. If you met Marilyn, chances are that you volunteered for her at Truman to bring joy to its residents. In retirement Marilyn, with the help of friends, developed the 60+ Club bringing together members of BSKI, Shaare Zedek and B’nai Amoona for delicious lunches and entertainment. There was also serious Mah Jongg playing and teaching.
Family was exceedingly important to her. Saul Dien was her beloved life partner and husband for 68 years; she was the eldest daughter of the late May and Louis Karsh, and sister of the late Iris (Amos) Levitt and the late Barry (Ginger) Karsh; and sister-in-law of Albert (Dora) Dien and Jane M. Dien.
Fiercely proud of her children and their spouses: Laurie Dien (Alan Yaillen), Jonathan (Karen) Dien, and Bruce Dien (Julie Luner) and of her grandchildren Austin Dien, Aliza Yaillen (Josh Gross) and Garrett Dien.
