Always a show filled with emotion, the Musial Awards will bring plenty of laughs this year, thanks to a special appearance by Billy Crystal. The iconic Jewish comedian, actor and filmmaker—famous for his roles in “When Harry Met Sally” and “City Slickers” and for hosting the Oscars nine times—will share his inimitable humor with the Musial Awards audience. Crystal, 76, is set to have an on-stage conversation with Bob Costas, who is being honored with the Stan Musial Lifetime Achievement Award for Sportsmanship, on Nov. 23 at the Stifel Theatre in downtown St. Louis.
The iconic Crystal
Crystal’s illustrious career, which spans six decades, includes accolades such as six Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Beyond his achievements, Crystal’s Jewish heritage has played a significant role in shaping his identity. Growing up in Long Beach, N.Y.—a predominantly Jewish and Italian community—he recalls a home filled with laughter, jazz legends like Billie Holiday and vibrant cultural traditions. These experiences deeply influenced his comedic style and worldview.
“It is tremendously thrilling to have ‘Mr. Saturday Night’ on Saturday night, Nov. 23, at the Musial Awards,” said Marc Schreiber, president of the St. Louis Sports Commission. “We’re always striving to elevate the event, and having someone of Billy Crystal’s stature will make it even more memorable, especially for Bob Costas.”
Crystal joins a star-studded cast attending the Musial Awards, including Costas, baseball legends Joe Torre and Ozzie Smith, six-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and 2024 honorees Salvador Perez and Larry Fitzgerald, Jr.
19 years for Mike Bush
Adding to the night’s significance, the Musial Awards will be hosted for the 19th consecutive year by another member of the St. Louis Jewish community: KSDK news anchor Mike Bush. He has hosted the event since the awards began.
Limited tickets remain, priced between $18 and $50, and are available through Ticketmaster. A few Honoree Circle tickets are still available for $160, which include premium seating, a pass to the Musial Awards After Party and reserved parking. For more information, visit MusialAwards.com/tickets.
