Peter Allen Cohen, May 26, 1938 – January 22, 2025.
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Gisela, his children, Peter Jr. (Annie), Jeffrey (Heike), and Jeanne. Peter is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Mimi (Jeremy), Joshua, Connor, Jordan, Carter, Leona, and Parker, and his three brothers, Lou (Evelyn), Richard (Kay), and Robert (Sheila). Peter also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Peter graduated from Clayton High School in 1956.
Peter was in the insurance business for many years, followed by his career as a realtor. The love he had for his St. Louis roots were quite evident as he was very well known around town. There was not a place Peter could go without running into somebody that knew him, and those that knew him, loved him.
Being involved in the community was something Peter took pride in. He was on the Board of Directors for Mercy Hospital, as well as the Board of Directors for Friends of Kids with Cancer, and also served a term as the president of Friends of Kids with Cancer. He was on the Board of Directors of Westwood Country Club, as well as serving as both Mayor and Fire Marshall for the Village of Westwood.
In Peter’s spare time, he could be found on the golf course, and was always willing to share his excitement of the four hole-in-one’s he had throughout his lifetime. Additionally, Peter was an avid tennis player and frequently enjoyed long walks with family and friends.
Peter’s family was very important to him and his love for them was abundant. His infectious smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private family service was held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Friends of Kids with Cancer Organization or Temple Israel of St. Louis.
