Published April 4, 2012
The community is invited to join Congregation Temple Israel in commemorating its 125th anniversary at an “Honoring Our Past Shabbat” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 20 in the Gall Family Sanctuary. A festive oneg will follow the service. Anyone with a connection to Temple Israel, past or present, including descendents of the Temple’s founding families, past b’nai mitzvah, confirmands and couples married by Temple Israel’s rabbis are encouraged to attend. Temple Israel is located at 1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Drive, at the corner of Ladue and Spoede Roads in Creve Coeur.
“From our classical Reform roots to our contemporary liturgy and music of today, this special service will be a spiritual journey through 125 years of worship at Temple Israel,” said Rabbi Amy Feder.
A professional choir and organ will accompany the service, which will include liturgy and music from prayer books used throughout Temple Israel’s history, including one written by the congregation’s first Rabbi, Solomon H. Sonneschein, in the late 1880s. For more information, visit www.ti-stl.org/125 or call Temple Israel at 314-432-8050.
