Roni Lavi

The Jewish Community Center’s shlichah, Roni Lavi, continues to offer ways for the community to engage in Israeli culture. Among them:

• Fauda Watch Club: Join an in-depth discussion about “Fauda,” the Israeli thriller on Netflix, about a top agent who comes out of retirement to hunt for a Palestinian terrorist he thought he’d killed, setting a chaotic chain of events into motion, while seeing the human stories on both sides of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Lavi, having served in the artillery corps, will share personal stories from her experience in the West Bank. Guest speakers who served in similar units will join, too.

Four sessions, three episodes every two weeks. (12 episodes)

March 15, 29; April 12, 26 at 7 p.m. Register at jccstl.com/Israel to receive a Zoom link and a goodie pack while you enjoy the show.

• Israeli Cooking Night: Learn to make burekas, couscous, Israeli biscuit cake, Israeli chocolate-covered cereal and more with Lavi. All ages welcome.

Sunday, Feb. 27 at 4:30 p.m. Register: jccstl.com/Israel

• Israeli Meet-up with Roni: Get to know Lavi who is here to share all about Israel and Israeli history, people and culture. She is happy to set up a time and place that works for you and your family in person, outside, or virtually. Pick any topic of discussion, learn some Hebrew, cook Israeli food together, listen to some great new Israeli music, play Israeli games, learn Israeli dances or more.
