Rick Recht starts national PJ Library tour at JCC
Published December 14, 2011
Rick Recht will kick off a national PJ Library concert tour in St. Louis with a free concert for children at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 at the Jewish Community Center’s Staenberg Complex in the Carl & Helene Mirowitz Performing Arts Center, 2 Millstone Campus Drive in Creve Coeur. In October, the national PJ Library organization announced that Recht would serve as its new national celebrity spokesperson, and he would tour in support of the organization at more than 150 concerts across the country.
Recht will perform hits from his newest PJ Library release, “Sounds Like Summer – Greatest Hits of Jewish Summer Camp” and his original early childhood album, “Look at Me” during the concert, co-sponsored by PJ Library, Jewish Rock Radio and the JCC Helene Mirowitz Center of Jewish Community Life.
Families can bring kids of all ages to sing songs, eat snacks and participate in activities.
With the support of the Gladys K. Crown Foundation, “Sounds Like Summer” albums are being freely distributed in December to children in area Jewish religious and day schools as a special Hanukkah present. The “Sounds Like Summer” album is intended to familiarize youth with the music, spirit, and excitement that is part of the fabric of the Jewish overnight camping experience.
