Meet three of the Light’s 2012 Unsung Heroes

Joy Sterneck

Joy Sterneck has distinguished herself as a volunteer, serving a variety of roles in the community: as a tutor with OASIS and with an ESL program in the Parkway Schools;  a member of the Jewish Fund for Human Needs committee, the Cultural Leadership board, CRC’s Mitzvah Corps, helping take Cedars at the JCA residents to Shabbat services, and acting as school liaison for NCJW’s Kids Community Closet. She has also been active in interfaith activities, in an Interfaith Partnership dialogue group and an interfaith book group. 


Steven Rosenblum

A board member and past president of Crown Center for Senior Living, Steven Rosenblum used his development background to help create new streams of fundraising. He and his family are also active volunteers at Crown’s Jewish holiday celebrations. He has also been active with Brith Sholom Kneseth Israel, the Susman Foundation, the United Way Allocations Committee, the Jewish Federation’s M-PACT division and the AIDS Foundation of St. Louis.


Marion Lipsitz

Marion Lipsitz has become an admired figure for her giving, caring and doing.  She is a life member and past president of Hadassah and has been active with National Council of Jewish Women, Jewish Hospital, and Brandeis University. Lipsitz has also served as a board member of Jewish Federation and as a member of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, American Jewish Committee, and the Anti-Defamation League. For the past three years, she has served as a docent at the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center.
