HMLC marks 20th anniversary at Aug. 20 gala

A reception and dinner this month will highlight the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center’s 20 years of serving the community.

According to Dan Reich, education director and curator at the HMLC, the gala event will be held Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton with the reception starting at 5:30 p.m.

“We will honor some of our gracious, generous donors,” he said. “We’ll premiere a new video about the Holocaust Museum and what it offers and there will be some other surprises.”

Local news anchor Mike Bush of KSDK will serve as master of ceremonies for the gathering, which is co-chaired by Carol Staenberg and former HMLC Chair Margi Lenga Kahn.

Unlike many organizations, HMLC doesn’t put on such a fundraising event annually, but rather every five years or so.

Corporate and individual sponsors are backing the dinner at bronze, silver, gold and platinum levels. Presenting sponsors include the Rubin and Gloria Feldman family and the Staenberg Family Foundation.

Reich said the last couple of events have sold out.

“It marks a very important milestone in the museum’s history and we’ve all seen how the museum has grown and become wider known and increased its programming to fulfill its mission of teaching about the history and lessons of the Holocaust.”

Tickets are $150. RSVPs are due by Aug. 14. For more information on the event, visit https://hmlc.org/events/20thdinner/ or phone 314-442-3711.
