Benefitness offers day of fitness for charity

BeneFitness, an all-day fitness event to promote good health while raising money for charities, will takes place on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Staenberg Family Complex in Creve Coeur. It’s open to the entire St. Louis community.

The purpose of the event is to inspire both JCC members and non-members to join together for one day of fitness activities and raise funds to support four health-related charities. The charities are: St. Louis County Health Department/Cardiac Prevent and Screening Division, Hope Happens (a research division of Washington University for neurological conditions), NAMI/St. Louis-National Alliance on Mental Illness and Mo. Baptist Medical Center Cancer Research Program.

BeneFitness is the idea of personal trainer Jill Frank Abrams, who specializes in working with individuals with debilitating conditions such as MS, Parkinson’s, chronic pain and stroke clients. Abrams also works with special needs clients.

“I have been a personal trainer for 30 years and have been blessed with good health. I felt it was time to give back and do something for these four very worthwhile health charities,” Abrams said.

BeneFitness offers a full schedule of fitness activities including Zumba, Aqua Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, racquetball tournament led by Marty Hogan, lap swimming, circuit training, spinning and much more. All classes are led by certified instructors who will donate their time for the event.

Pre-registration for the event may be completed by sending a check made payable to BeneFitness4all at 2275 Schuetz Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63146. Interested participants can also call 314-569-4097 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 314-614-4397 on evenings and weekends.
