Being Jewish in St. Charles
Published October 17, 2022
The St. Louis Jewish Light is very excited to announce a new partnership with Being Jewish in St. Charles, a storytelling project with the goal of sharing first-person stories and photographic portraits featuring Jewish people in St. Charles County.
Did you know there are 6,000 Jews living in St. Charles County, Missouri — some who know each other, some who have never met? In an initiative to get people in this community more connected, the Facebook-based project sets out to meet, interview, and highlight their stories in the “Humans of” style.
This project is a collaboration between the Foundry Art Centre, Humans of St. Louis, and Missouri 2021, supported by the Chabad Jewish Center of St. Charles County.
“The goal is to share as many stories from Jewish folks who live or work in St. Charles, with the project culminating in an art exhibition at the Foundry Art Centre,” said Lindy Drew, co-founder and lead storyteller of Humans of St. Louis, a major partner in this initiative.
“We want to celebrate the diversity, individuality, and unique experiences of the Jewish citizens of this County.”
As we release the first of many interviews and photos, everyone is invited to join us on this journey of discovery as Being Jewish in St. Charles provides an intimate look into the hearts and minds of Jewish individuals in St. Charles.
Enjoy!
