Ten Jewish professionals and one lay leader will be honored at the 20th Annual JProStl Recognition Event on Thursday, March 6. The event will take place in the gymnasium of the Staenberg Family Complex at the Jewish Community Center from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 10:45 a.m. and attendees are encouraged to arrive at 11.
The theme of the program is “Focus on Community.” JProStL, an initiative of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis, is the professional association for staff who work at 50 nonprofits affiliated with the St. Louis Jewish community.
In addition to the 10 Peer Awards, Felicia Malter has been chosen as the recipient of the JProStl Partnership award for a board leader who exemplifies the lay-staff relationship.
Peer Honorees for 2025 are:
- Visionary – Rabbi Yosef David, Aish HaTorah of St. Louis
- Career Achievement – Esther Scharf, Jewish Family Services
- Pillar – Heather Silverman, National Council of Jewish Women-St. Louis
- Chesed/Kindness – Susan Kemppainen, Covenant Place – Mirowitz Center
- Dedication – Stacy Jespersen, Congregation Shaare Emeth and Missy Novotny, WashU Hillel
- Emerging Leader – Lexie Schmidt, Jewish Community Center
- Educator – Lesley Goldenberg, Temple Israel
- Mentor – Jeremy Brok, LEAD STL and Lisa Deutsch – The J Camp Sabra
JProStL presidents since 2005 will also be recognized, including Jennifer Bell, Lori Goldberg, Craig Neuman, Michelle Brooks, Jean Cavender, Rabbi Levi Landa, Julie Gibbs, Randi Schenberg, Erin Schreiber, Sarah Levinson and Rabbi Lori Levine.
Levine is JProStL president, Shannon Rohlman and Rebekah Scallet are vice presidents and Tanya Spivey is special events chair. The event is free of charge for staff who work in Jewish nonprofits at least 20 hours per week and $35 for guests.
