Rick Recht performs at the 2017 Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) celebration at the J on May 1.

St. Louis-based Jewish rock musician Rick Recht will perform spiritual Jewish music with Congregation Temple Israel’s rabbis and regular Shabbat musicians at Shabbat services on Friday, Aug. 17. The Shabbat Alive! service is free and open to the public. Recht will sing songs from his albums in addition to accompanying the other musicians that evening. This special Shabbat service is presented by Temple Israel.

“It’s amazing to join a community in a beautiful Shabbat setting, which is so inspiring to Jewish youth and adults. This is what Judaism is all about,” said Recht. “I love the music, the interaction, and the talented congregants that participate during the service. Right away, everyone feels aligned and connected to each other and their Jewish heritage.”

Temple Israel Senior Rabbi Amy Feder said Recht “brings an incredible energy and provides an unforgettable experience for everyone who attends.”

Recht is the top-touring Jewish artist today, performing more than 125 concerts each year across the country. He

is the founder and executive director of the Jewish Rock Radio internet radio station (www.jewishrockradio.com) and executive director of the annual Songleader Boot Camp.

The Shabbat Alive! service starts at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Temple Israel, #1 Rabbi Alvan D. Rubin Drive in Creve Coeur. For more information, visit www.ti-stl.org or contact: Martina Stern, special events manager, at [email protected] or 314-432-8050.
