When horn-rimmed glasses were cool

The fact the Jewish Light was there in 1966 should not surprise anyone. We have been there and we are here now, but we need your support to ensure that we are here in the future.

For six decades, the St. Louis Jewish Light has been an invaluable beacon for the Jewish community, illuminating stories, issues, and events that resonate deeply with its readership. The paper has served as a unifying force, providing a platform for communal dialogue, celebration, and reflection. Through its pages, the Light has chronicled the triumphs and challenges of the St. Louis Jewish community, fostering a sense of connection and shared identity.

To ensure that this essential institution continues to shine for generations to come, supporting “The Light” is not just a financial contribution; it is an investment in the preservation of community, culture, and continuity.

By clicking this link and rallying behind the St. Louis Jewish Light today, you can help pave the way for this unwavering presence 60 years into the future, ensuring that it remains a guiding force, bringing clarity, connection, and community to the St. Louis Jewish experience.

This photo appeared in the Jewish Light on Mar. 30, 1966. The story “Young Executives in Fund Drive” featured three additional photos of young, well-groomed gents attending a fundraising event at Schieithorst’s West Restaurant. The event featured as the keynote, future NFL Hall of Famer, St. Louis Cardinals defensive back Larry Wilson.

In this photo we see, from left: Walter Stern; Warner Issacs; Richard Fisher, Chairman of the group; Donald Gallop, c0-chairman and Thomas Levin.
