As shopping experiences go, the Couturier sale sits atop our Mt. Rushmore.
Wednesday, Sept. 25, kicked off the 60th annual Couturier sale at the ReSale Shop, a key initiative of the National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis. In honor of 60 years, NCJWSTL started the sale earlier than ever before, at 10:30 a.m., for 30 people who paid $100 in advance for this VIP Preview. Nevertheless, eager shoppers started lining up at the front door at 6:30 a.m., wanting to ensure that they were among the first inside.
Prior to opening the doors, Frank Wolff, the son of Bede Wolff who had started Couturier 60 years ago from her home with just 16 designer pieces, performed the ceremonial ribbon cutting at the ReSale Shop, located at 295 N. Lindbergh Blvd.

This year, Couturier features more than 25,000 curated pieces of gently used, high-quality designer clothing and accessories for women, men and children, as well as home décor items. Designers highlighted at the sale include Burberry, Kate Spade, St. John, Lululemon, Gucci, Ferragamo, Eileen Fisher and Michael Kors. And don’t even get me started on all the luscious cashmere sweaters.
The good news about Couturier is that in addition to some incredible buys, its proceeds go to fund all the great work NCJWSTL does to improve the lives of women, children and families in the St. Louis community.
No worries if you weren’t able to get to Wednesday’s opening. The sale continues Thursday through Saturday, and the good news is that admission is free to the public but you’re on your own for whatever you buy.
