The 2024 Staenberg Speaker Series continues on Feb. 16 with an evening featuring Judge Rachel Freier, a trailblazing figure in law and Jewish life. Known for her historic achievement as the first Hasidic woman elected to public office in the United States, Freier is expected to bring a powerful perspective on balancing faith, community and professional success.
The event will take place at a University City location, which will be emailed to attendees upon registration.
An evening with Judge Rachel Freier
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. with appetizers and drinks, providing an opportunity for attendees to network and connect. At 7:15 p.m., Freier will deliver a keynote address sharing her story of perseverance and leadership. Following her talk, an audience Q&A session will give participants the chance to explore her journey in greater depth.
About Judge Rachel Freier
Freier made history in 2016 as the first Hasidic woman elected to public office, serving on the civil court of the city of New York. In 2023, she was sworn in as a justice on the New York Supreme Court. A native of Brooklyn and mother of six, Freier began her career as a legal secretary and pursued law school at Brooklyn Law School while raising her family.
She is also the founder of Ezras Nashim, an all-woman volunteer EMT service created to meet the needs of women in her community. Freier’s career exemplifies her commitment to social justice, community advocacy and upholding Jewish values in professional spaces.
