Widow of Eugene (Gene) Barken. Loving daughter of the late Mollie and the late Ben Kauffman, sister of the late Alvin (the late Natalie) Kauffman, aunt of Brad (Liz) Kauffman. Dear cousin of the late Gloria (the late Bernard) Sirkin, Nancy (Andy) Weigley and Linda (Ric) Kram, Dr. Harvey and Dale Glazer. Shirley and Gene were long-time employees of Famous Barr/Macy’s. In fact, Shirley was recognized as the longest serving employee – an unbelievable 60 years – before she retired. Shirley was fondly known to generations of perfume buyers and helped her clients select just the right scents for themselves or as gifts.
Thank you, Dr. Gold, for the time and patience you always had for both Gene and Shirley. They loved to come to your office and your staff was always so kind and attentive. Thank you to the staff at The Grande at Creve Coeur who treated Shirley with kindness, gentleness, affection and dignity. You made her last year a blessing.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Chesed Shel Emeth Cemetery, 7550 Olive Blvd, 63130 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to Kol Rinah or a charity of your choice. Please visit bergermemorialchapel.com for more info. BERGER MEMORIAL
