Saralyn Deadmond, 06/22/1951 – 05/30/2025
Saralyn Deadmond of Maryville, Illinois passed away in early morning hours of May 30, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Allen Deadmond; devoted mother to Jeffrey (Amy) Spector and adored grandmother of Lena Spector all of Edwardsville, Illinois; cherished aunt of Todd (Julie) Lorberbaum and dear great-aunt of Harry Lorberbaum all of Houston, Texas; loved daughter of Jacob and Sabina (neé Horowitz) Lorberbaum of University City, Missouri; cousin, and friend to many.
Saralyn, affectionately known as “Sara” graduated from University City High School in 1969 and subsequently from the University of Missouri Columbia in 1973. After several years of teaching home economics and then serving as a sales associate-turned-manager of a fabric store, she rounded out her career as the practice manager of her son, Jeffrey’s, veterinary clinic in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Although she accomplished many things in her work-life, she would consider her greatest accomplishment was raising her “perfect” son, Jeffrey, and then watching her “even more perfect” granddaughter, Lena, grow.
She will be remembered by her many catchphrases, unrivaled cheesecake-making skills, unabashed food-pushing, unrelenting motherly guilt trips and her overall love of life. And we know, “we just bought our lunch, and our dinner” by including these nuances.
Services will be held on Wednesday June 4, 2025, at 11:00 am graveside at B’nai Amoona Cemetery. Family and friends may sit Shiva at their residence following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Jewish National Fund. Please visit bergermemorialchapel.com for more information. BERGER MEMORIAL
