Razine (Ray) May Wenneker (née Klearman) born February 2, 1931, passed away at age 94 on March 17, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband Alvin; her children Mark (Amy) and Barbie (Richard); her grandchildren Max (Rachel), Teddy, Ellie (Dan), Tarek (Alex), and Ziyad; and her beloved sister, Mimi Barohn (Selwyn).
Ray graduated from Soldan High School and Webster University with a degree in Art Education. She went on to teach first grade in the Ladue School District. After retirement, she resumed the pursuit of her artistic passions. She studied with renowned artists John Baltrushunas and Heikki Seppä and founded the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths in 1995. Ray expanded from her focus on working with metals to practicing delicate bead weaving and creating tactile mesh pieces out of Miyuki seed beads. Her creations ranged from earrings to bracelets to magnificent necklaces and sculptural pieces.
Ray had a deep love for her husband of 72 years and her family. She had a unique ability to connect with everyone whom she met and, due to her remarkable memory, could easily recall the details of their lives. She was a lifelong learner, never daunted by a new challenge, whether it encompassed a new art technique or a new game app on her phone.
Ray was predeceased in death by her parents, Sarah Klearman Rogul and Benjamin Klearman, and her beloved brothers, Barney Klearman (Hilda) and Mel Klearman (Lois).
A graveside service was held for the immediate family. All are welcome to join the family at a memorial service at Temple Emanuel at a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, Ray’s family requests that donations be made in her honor to Books for STL Kids, https://www.booksforstlkids.org/donate. Please visit bergermemorialchapel.com for more information. BERGER MEMORIAL
