Paul George Damyan, 05/02/1953 – 09/06/2025
Paul G. Damyan left his legacy behind on September 6, 2025. Beloved husband to Robi; cherished father to Trevor, Martin, and Sara; adored grandfather to Eli and Ella; uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Paul was born in Virginia, Minnesota on May 2nd, 1953. He was the first born child of three. Raised in Keewatin, he grew up alongside his brother, Tom and sister, Lori. Pursuant of knowledge, he attended the University of Minnesota, where he met his wife, Robi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He secured a job with the OCC treasury department. Initially starting as a bank examiner, he continued his education, self-taught in Computer Programming. Further in his career he wrote legacy code that the federal government used to analyze bank loans and risk.
Outside of his dedication to the workplace, Paul enjoyed the best of all things in life. He was a wine connoisseur, knew their vintage, history, and of course the right glass to drink it in. He was an excellent chef. Each meal made was of the top ingredients, from scratch. Paul was a proud caretaker of unique pets such as Stardust, a blue and golden macaw, seahorses, and salt water fish. He prided himself on and taught his family to not squander time. He is often remembered saying: “turn off the TV family, let’s all read our books.”

Paul was a leader within his family and his community. He was a scout leader, helping young men earn their Eagle Scout badges. He volunteered at Temple Israel as an usher. When his father-in-law needed help with his store, he moved to Sioux Falls. There he helped manage the store and worked his own computer programming job. Yet, he would still have time to host a friend’s band, a coworker’s passion project of selling her truffles, or sponsor a youth sport team. He also successfully secured the store to be a historical landmark, protecting its tradition as it stands today on the street. Paul never needed to be the center of the party, but would instead form real, lasting connections with people from all backgrounds.
Akin to his appetite for life and his infatuation for the finer things to pair; he held the subtleties of life, dear to his family, community, and the utmost excellent Cuban cigars.
