Marlene Maschan (née Koldun) passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at age 88.
Beloved wife of the late Gerald “Jerry” Herbert Maschan. Loving mother of Jay Rothman of Mesa, AZ and Bonnie (Kenton) Kolker. Proud grandmother of Nathan (Sydney Delin) Kolker of Rockville, MD and Joanna (Evan Ash) Kolker of Greenbelt, MD. Great-grandmother of Kaia Allison Delin Kolker. Companion of Claude “Bud” Shelby. Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Becky and Jacob; and her siblings, Ruth (Leo) Sherman, Stella (Leo) Wilhelm, Nathan “Izzy” (Muriel) Koldun, Frieda (Louis) Orenstein, Ann (Sidney) Schneider and Evelyn (Robert) Protzel. She was a loving aunt, cousin and friend.
A St. Louis native, Marlene was born on March 11, 1937, and attended Soldan High School. Marlene worked at her sister’s deli, Protzel’s, where she met her husband, Jerry. She made friends across St. Louis city and county as a successful Tupperware manager. She also volunteered as a leader for Jay’s Boy Scout troop.
Marlene enjoyed traveling the world, knitting, playing Mahjong with friends, and above all, spending time with her family.
