Lawrence David Perlmutter, August 28, 2025
Beloved husband of Amy Perlmutter for 65 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Deborah (Tim) Crahan and Donna Perlmutter. Proud grandfather of Dr. Andrea (Dr. Steven) Finstad and Benjamin Crahan. Dear brother of the late Bernard (Adele) Perlmutter and the late Arline (Buddy) Brilliant. Cherished uncle, lifelong friend of Shaun Margul, and dear to many.
Larry was admired for his intellect, curiosity, warmth, and gift for listening. His distinguished career at McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, spanned Mercury, Gemini, the Space Shuttle, cruise missile programs, and most proudly, the top secret Hexagon Spy Satellite, declassified in 2011. This groundbreaking work provided vital intelligence during the Cold War, and Larry and Amy were honored to attend the Smithsonian Gala when the program was first revealed.
In retirement, Larry pursued his passion for biblical archaeology, participating in several digs in Israel and serving as president of the St. Louis Archaeological Society. He was also an avid tennis player, enjoying the game well into his late 80s—playing regularly until the age of 88.

Family was at the heart of Larry’s life. He and Amy shared decades of travel and adventure, often bringing their grandchildren along on journeys filled with learning, laughter and required journaling. As a father, grandfather, and friend, Larry was endlessly supportive, encouraging, and deeply interested in the lives of others.
He will be remembered as a pioneer, a devoted family man, and a gift to all who knew him.
