Joanne Frances (Kalish) Schuver, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, aged 89, surrounded by her family.
Joanne was born to Edith and Frank Kalish in St. Louis, Missouri on July 14, 1935. She was predeceased by her dear husband, Jack Schuver, in 1984. Joanne leaves behind a storied legacy, which lives on in her four children, Rachel (David) Rubin, Lauren (Andrew Gold) Schuver, Steven (Erin) Schuver, and David (Barbara) Schuver; nine grandchildren, Julia & Ben (Carly) Rubin, Ali & Jenna Gold, Jeremy, Olivia & Natalie Schuver, and Jack & Zoe Schuver; two great-grandchildren, Cooper & Sophie Rubin; and brother Michael Kalish.
We will remember her kind, gentle nature, unwavering commitment to her family and friends, and appreciation for the simple joys in life. Joanne was adored by all who knew her during her many years as the executive secretary at Saks Fifth Avenue, a founding member of Traditional Congregation of Creve Coeur, and throughout her life as part of the greater St. Louis community. She met each of life’s challenges with resilience and quiet strength. Our empathetic listener, vibrant storyteller, and one-of-a-kind matriarch—we will miss her so. The family wishes to thank our special guardian angels along the way.
