Irene Stein of Vancouver, B. C., died peacefully and on her own terms, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 100.

Predeceased by her loving husband Ralph, her son Mark, Irene is survived by her son Bob (Rosalie) of St. Louis, her grandsons Jeffrey (Matt Rosenthal) of New York City, and Michael (Amanda) and their daughter Lory of St. Louis. Also survived by a son David (Helen)

A 1947 graduate of St. Paul’s School of Nursing in Vancouver, Irene dedicated her life to her family and for the betterment of those less fortunate than her. She was one of the first volunteers of British Columbia’s Hospice Care, sponsored a refugee family in Vancouver, and along with her dog was and regularly visited patients in local hospitals and residents in area prisons. Her passions included music and the well-being of animals.

Graveside services were held in Vancouver, Canada. Donations may be made in Irene’s memory to NCJW of St. Louis or a charity of your choice.
