Henry Lewin Schweich, 91, passed away on Dec. 4, 2023 from Alzheimer’s Disease. He leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Esther Gordon Schweich; daughters Cindy (Harry) Handler, Kathy (Josh) Margolis and Debbie (Marco) Cortigiani; and seven grandchildren, Ted (Chris Trudell) Handler, Jay Handler and Lena Handler, Kate (Evan) Cory, Ryan Margolis, Matthew Cortigiani and Julia Cortigiani.
Hank graduated from Harvard Law School, after which he was employed by Cerro Copper Products Co. in Sauget, IL. He rose to become CEO of the company and its subsidiaries, a position he held for nearly two decades. He also served as a director on the board of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.
Hank was known for his irrepressible joie de vivre, love of family, and astute observations such as “There’s no such thing as bad candy!”
Family and friends are invited to share memories of Hank on Sat., Jan. 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the theater at The Gatesworth, 1 McKnight Pl. near Delmar Blvd. and McKnight Rd.
