Harry Barbach

Harry Barbach, died November 17, 2011 at age 81. Born April 24, 1930 in New York, N.Y.; husband of Eleanor Barbach for 63 years; father of Robert (Nancy) Barbach of Great Neck, N.Y. and Vicki (Brian Schaff) Pierce of St. Louis Mo.; grandfather of Heather (John) Messex and Evan Pierce of St. Louis and Erin and Jordan Barbach of Great Neck N.Y.; great-grandfather of Cameron Messex of St. Louis. Barbach moved to Los Angeles at 15 years old and met his future wife in their high school Spanish class. He served in the Army, and after having two children moved to St. Louis in 1960. He worked 47-years at Edison Brothers Shoe Stores. He began working in high school part-time as a shoe salesman and promoted up through the ranks, eventually as Buyer for Bakers, Burts and Leeds women’s shoes, and as Executive Vice-President. After retiring, formed his own consulting business advising manufacturers of women’s shoes, in design, manufacturing and sales. He was considered a “Builder of Men” and mentored others, helping expand their careers and supporting their professional development. He was an avid golfer and had a passion for collecting clocks, served on the Board of Trustees of congregation Shaare Emeth, where he and Eleanor endowed the temple with a baseball field, Barbach Field. Harry loved to travel, his greatest happiness was bringing his entire family together for vacations. Contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
