Eleanor Raye “Cookie” Goldberg, born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 25, 1937, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, outside of Chicago, Illinois. She is the adored wife of the late Martin, beloved mother of Vicki (Michael) Diamond, Barry (Harriet) Goldberg, and Judy Goldberg, proud grandmother of Jamie Diamond, Emily Goldman, and Alex, Sydney, and Jessie Goldberg, and great grandmother of Ruthie Goldman, Zoey Goldman, Rose Diamond, and Nora Diamond. Her family already misses her dearly.
Cookie was born into a wonderful family anchored by her parents, the late Harry and Lee (Shoss) Goldfried. It was that home life that she brought to her own family, as a loving mother and spouse. Cookie and Martin built a life and home that was supportive, caring, and warm.
She was an award-winning employee of MCI Communications and then started her own company to help individuals and businesses organize for maximum efficiency and to reduce stress. After her working years, she was a dedicated docent at the St. Louis Holocaust Museum.

Cookie really came to life as a grandmother. Her grandchildren, who called her Ari, were her absolute pride and joy and nothing made her happier than traveling, reading, singing, and dancing with them. Her smile was never bigger and her eyes never brighter than when she was with any of her five grandchildren and she was overjoyed to spend time with her great grandchildren in her later years.
Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who know and love her.
A private burial is planned. Donations in her honor are welcomed at Suncrest Hospice, Northbrook Office, Attn: Dawn Anderson, 5 Revere Dr. Ste. 130, Northbrook, Illinois 60062.
A Berger Memorial Service.
