CPT Richard D. Chorlins, USAF

CPT Richard D. Chorlins, USAF, died January 11, 1970 in Laos during the Vietnam War. He was a loving son, brother, husband, uncle and friend. He was an integral part of the 602nd Special Operations Squadron, 56th Special Operation Wing, 7th Air Force. Rick was lost on January 11, 1970 in Laos piloting an A-1 Skyraider in an armed reconnaissance mission when his plane was hit by enemy fire and crashed into the side of a mountain. His remains were accounted for on January 17, 2015. Richard David Chorlins was born on July 16, 1945 in University City, Missouri. He attended schools in Missouri and was a 1967 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He was serving in the 602nd Special Operation Squadron, Nakhom Phenom, RAFB, Thailand. Rick is survived by his sisters, Cheryl Spalding and Toby Keane; and his widow, Nancy Wacholtz. Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015, United States Air Force Academy Jewish Chapel, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Burial will follow at the USAFA Cemetery.
