Their musical duet of “You Are My Sunshine” remained one of her fondest memories.
Cheri Ann’s career spanned over 60 years and included performances on some of the most iconic stages in America. She starred in over 40 productions at The Muny in Forest Park from 1957 through 1985, sharing the stage with legends such as Bob Hope, Chita Rivera, and Carol Lawrence. Her talents also brought her abroad, with headline performances in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Aruba, where she sang for Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands.
A versatile singer, Cheri Ann performed as a symphony soloist and appeared at Carnegie Hall with the St. Louis Symphony Chorus under the baton of maestro Leonard Slatkin in 1994—an experience she considered among her greatest honors.
In 2010, Cheri Ann was crowned Ms. Senior Sweetheart of America, a national pageant celebrating women of elegance and enduring spirit. She continued to perform into her later years, bringing joy to nursing homes, senior centers, and local theaters through her work with the Windsor Theatre Group and community productions. She was also a proud member of the Missouri Senior Cameo Club, a non-profit organization sponsoring an annual pageant for senior women, which fosters their talent and personal development through charitable giving, community service and performances.
Cheri Ann was also a dedicated arts advocate, serving as a judge for Arts for Life for over 16 years. In 2014, the organization recognized her with its Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring her decades of service and artistic excellence.
