Carol Lee Zimmerman Sterneck was born on April 21, 1946 to Sylvia and Isadore Zimmerman in St. Louis, Missouri. She passed away on Saturday, September 26 in her home in Delray Beach, Florida. She was married to her late husband, Barry Sterneck, for 47 years before his passing in 2022. She married Barry, son of Reva and Herbert Sterneck, in St. Louis in 1976.
She attended University City High School and the University of Missouri earning her degree in Elementary Education. She began her teaching profession by teaching kindergarten at Weber elementary in the Parkway school district. The only children in the elementary school who were shorter than her, were the kindergarteners! She later taught in Riverview Gardens district and tutored at Sylvan Learning Center.
After over 25 years of teaching school, Barry and Carol retired and moved to Stuart, Florida. They loved the warmer year round weather. Several years later they moved to Delray Beach, Florida to be closer to their Florida family. Carol loved riding her three wheeled bicycle around the neighborhood with her beloved dog, Frankie, in the front basket greeting all of the neighbors!
Carol was a devoted wife to Barry for 47 years, sister of the late Lynne Rich; aunt to Rochelle Rich, Scott Rich and the late Ed Rich. She was a loving sister-in-law to Patty Beck and Barbara and the late Norton Sterneck, and fond aunt to Sharon and David Kaiser, Michelle and Steven Sterneck, Hiroko and Robert Sterneck, Jill Holmes, Staci Graef, Steven Beck and Sari Ganulin, Ryan and Jennifer Beck and to many great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition she will be greatly missed by her St. Louis loving cousins, many cousins around the country, and many devoted friends.
