Carol Chazen Friedman

Carol Chazen Friedman, died November 29, 2011 after a valiant six year battle with breast cancer. Beloved wife of Harvey Paul Friedman for 41 years; loving daughter of the late Manuel and Mary Chazen; dear sister of Phyllis “Cookie” (Martin) Kalmes and Norman (the late Dina) Friedman; beloved aunt of Beth Ann, Lisa, Dan, Michael, Jed and (Gaby); our dear cousin and friend to many. She received her education from Washington University and the St. Louis University School of Law and was devoted to her practice of bankruptcy law. She was the first law clerk to Judge James Barta. In addition to helping innumerable clients, she also served as President of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, on the Board of Governors of the Missouri Bar and on the planning committee of the Solo and Small Firm Section of the Missouri Bar. She was the recipient of numerous awards including the Roser Award for Excellence in Bankruptcy. She delighted in helping her clients through difficult times and was a friend to all. She loved to travel and never met a stranger. She will be sorely missed by family, friends and colleagues. “An angel sent from heaven”. Funeral service Sunday, December 4, 1:30 p.m. at Shaare Zedek Synagogue, 829 North Hanley Road with interment to follow at B’nai Amoona Cemetery, 930 North and South Road.
