Annette Harrison Barton (née Schneider), Died peacefully in her sleep on sept 25th 2025. Born May 26, 1941 in Baltimore Maryland, middle daughter of Frank and Elva Schneider. Attended The Women’s college of North Carolina and graduated with a Teaching degree. Annette worked as a middle school social studies teacher and later became a children’s storyteller. Publishing 3 books, multiple recordings, a children’s TV show and traveled the country and the world sharing her gift as a talented storyteller. She especially enjoyed working with preschool/elementary aged children and weaving history into her stories. She was an active member of Central Reform Congregation in the Central West End. She was an avid reader, theatre goer and movie watcher. She practiced yoga 3 times a week and walked daily. She especially loved her grandchildren Sophie, Jonah, Josh, Addy and Ben. She is survived by her sisters Leah and Tobey(Sandy),Husband Albert Barton, children Andy(Norah) and Fred(Kim) Jason and Caitlin (Matthew). She will be remembered for her generous kind spirit, her love of all creatures, and her resilience. Donations in Annette’s honor can be made to Urban League or Central Reform Congregation.
A funeral service for Annette will be held Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108. Following the funeral service will be an internment at United Hebrew Cemetery, 7855 Canton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63130. Shiva on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 PM and Monday from 1:00-4:00 PM in the lobby of 4440 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.
