Soccer player held following young woman’s death

(JTA) — Police in Netanya are holding a Congolese soccer player and his friend in connection with the death of a young woman who was found at the men’s hotel in the coastal city.
The soccer player for the Maccabbi Netanya team was arrested on Wednesday along with a friend but police did not say whether they are murder suspects. Neither man was named, but news reports said both were in their 30s and from Congo.
The young woman was found dead and almost completely naked at Carmel Hotel in Netanya, the news site Ynet reported on Thursday.
The woman’s body was found half dangling from the railing of the hotel room’s balcony and showed contusions in the stomach area. The player’s friend told police the player had met the young woman on Tuesday. She was not a guest of the hotel.
A spokesperson for the police told the NRG news site that police was waiting for the results of the woman’s autopsy to determine how she died.
