Palestinian stabbing attack in central Jerusalem injures haredi man

JERUSALEM (JTA) — A haredi Orthodox man was injured in a stabbing attack in central Jerusalem.
The man, 26, was stabbed in the shoulder on Haneviim Street in a haredi Orthodox area of the city. He was taken to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center where he reportedly was in stable condition with a light injury.
The assailant, who is about age 20, was apprehended and taken for questioning, according to police and the IDF. He is a Palestinian from the West Bank, according to reports. He reportedly tossed his knife away while running from police and army officers.
The street where the stabbing took place runs from the center of Jerusalem to the Old City and has been the site of several stabbings in recent years, according to the Times of Israel.
