(JTA) — The baby boy born to a New York Satmar couple killed in a car crash on the way to the hospital has died.
Nachman and Raizi Glauber, 21-year-old Satmar hasidim from Brooklyn, were killed late Saturday night while riding in a cab to Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. The baby was delivered alive by C-section at the hospital, but died Monday morning.
The Glauber parents were buried Sunday after a funeral in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn attended by thousands of Satmar Hasidim. The baby will be circumcised and named and buried alongside his parents, though a funeral will not be held, the New York Post reported.
The driver and passenger of the leased BMW car that hit the cab fled on foot. Police have the driver’s name and are searching for him, according to the Post.
