It’s been two months since the first episode of “Soon By You” — a comedic web series about a group of young modern Orthodox New Yorkers trying to find love — first appeared on YouTube. Since then, the episode (in which a twenty-something named David meets up with the wrong blind date) has garnered over 60,000 views and become a buzzed-about project within the city’s modern Orthodox community.

The show’s anticipated second episode, released on YouTube on Thursday, expands the series’ cast and scope. Co-writer Jessica Schecter — who developed the episode with co-stars David Hoffman and Leah Gottfried, the show’s creator — and minor YouTube sensation Meir Kay join the cast. Noam Harary, who plays Z, David’s quirky roommate and friend — think shades of Kramer from “Seinfeld” and a dash of Joey from “Friends”— is a highlight of this episode, which has David chasing a possible woman of his dreams whose number he mistakenly lost.

At 30 minutes long, “The Follow Up” is not as tightly written as its 15-minute predecessor. But it still offers an entertaining window into the rarified, high-stakes world of modern Orthodox dating.
