Israeli security forces arrest Hamas lawmakers

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel security forces arrested 25 Palestinians in the West Bank, including nine senior Hamas lawmakers.
The Palestinians were arrested throughout the West Bank, including in Nablus, Hebron, Ramallah and Kalkilya, early Monday morning. The arrests were unusual in that Hamas legislators were arrested as well.
The men reportedly did not resist arrest, though villagers attacked some soldiers with stones.
Hamas reportedly has been trying to rebuild its organization in the West Bank, which is currently dominated by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah Party.
