Israel successfully tests Arrow 3 missile defense system

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israel conducted a successful live test of the Arrow 3 interceptor missile defense system.

The test was conducted Monday by Israel’s Missile Defense Organization and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, Israel’s Defense Ministry announced in a statement.

It was the first flight test of the Arrow 3 interceptor and was conducted at an Israeli test range over the Mediterranean Sea.

The Arrow 3 interceptor was designed to provide an additional level of defense against ballistic missiles, to add interception opportunities to the joint U.S.-Israel Arrow Weapon System and to improve Israel’s defenses against missile threats, according to the Defense Ministry

Other Israeli anti-missile defense systems include Arrow 2, Iron Dome and David’s Sling.
