Home of Israel’s atomic energy chief is burglarized

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Thieves stole the briefcase of the head of Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission in a home burglary.
The robbery, at the home of Dr. Shaul Horev, took place on Sunday night but became public only Tuesday with the lifting of a gag order. Also stolen was Horev’s wallet and a mobile phone.
The briefcase reportedly was full of documents, but the Atomic Energy Commission said in a statement that no sensitive material was stolen and no classified information was in the house at the time of the robbery. It denied reports that a computer was among the items stolen.
Horev supervises the nuclear reactor in Dimona and oversees nuclear research and development in Israel.
